He is currently the head of the Yemeni Journalists’ Union and one of the most important Yemeni journalistic and media leaders of the last two decades. He is a great writer and journalist, and a pioneer of the official press and media institutions. He has virtuous morals and authentic values, and his humility and simplicity are among the most important foundations of his strong relationships with his colleagues, friends and those around him. He is an administrative, professional and leadership man in every sense of the word. He is also rational in his positions and wise in his actions. He makes his decisions and is balanced in his relationships, his opinions and his writings. He is close to everyone, accepted by everyone and loved by everyone. He does not side with any party with harshness or extremism, nor does he oppose another party with hostility and affectation, to the point that some have described him as a thorn in the scale that tilts only toward the truth.

The eminent journalist, Mr. Yassin Al-Masoudi, grew up in the city of Taiz and did his initial education and three stages there. He then traveled to complete his university studies in Egypt and joined Cairo University, Faculty of Information, Department of Journalism, and graduated from there in 1981 AD. Then he returned to his native Yemen to work at Al-Thawra newspaper, where he obtained his official position in 1983 AD, and began to perform his work as editor-in-chief with great enthusiasm, vitality and activity, and his great desires and ambitions qualified him. Be a competent journalist and professional with unparalleled efficiency. The years passed and he witnessed great developments in his professional performance, which helped him climb several journalistic and administrative positions. In 1987, he received a qualifying opportunity by being sent to take a journalism course in Japan and obtaining a journalism scholarship. After his return, his journalistic experience was marked by the second phase of his work in the field of journalism, which is the stage of multiple leadership positions through which he became today’s number 1 journalist. In Yemen.

This is the result of his continuous efforts and activities to boost his journalistic abilities and develop his professional skills, in addition to his continuous efforts to improve the journalistic performance of the professional staff of Al-Thawra newspaper and increase the efficiency of the newspaper to fulfill its role and properly discharge its duty as it is the first official newspaper of Yemen in the 80s and 90s. The fruits of the efforts made by Mr. Yassin Al-Masoudi were the achievement of successive promotions to his professional position at Al-Thawra newspaper as follows:

* Press editor in the news department

* Head of the investigative journalism department

*Deputy editor-in-chief

* Editorial director

* Editor-in-chief of the Al-Mithaq newspaper, spokesperson for the General People’s Congress

* Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Thawra Foundation for Press, Printing and Publishing, Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

* Head of the Yemeni Journalists’ Union

* Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Arab Journalists

In my opinion, it is necessary to highlight the importance of the stage in which the great journalist Al-Masoudi assumed leadership of the work of the press union, which is a very complex and sensitive stage, because he was appointed to the position of captain in the last conference held by the Journalists’ Union around 2008 AD, and the late pioneer doctor and journalist, Raufa Hassan, was his only competitor in this electoral cycle, and after winning the position of captain, the Yemen has witnessed profound and major political transformations and changes. and serious divisions have occurred within the journalism community. And the media, and these divisions, almost led to the collapse of the large union entity which brings together the different journalists, the “Journalists’ Union”, but with his wisdom and the sincerity of his intentions, he managed to get the union out of this collapse and to keep it far from a state of conflict and political division.

The great journalist and media leader, Yassin Al-Masoudi, still represents all Yemeni journalists and remains the national and professional model on which the different political parties and forces in Yemen unite. What distinguishes him most is that he works silently, calmly and rationally, and does not allow himself to be drawn into the square of partisan, sectarian, regional and political alignments and prejudices. It treats everyone as a partner of the nation and helps shape its future and destiny. He is also the thorn in the balance around which all the members of the Council work. The union has existed for 17 years and has remained as it is, faithful to its national line and adhering to its professional approach, continuing to bridge points of view and eliminate conflicts and differences between union leaders, journalists and media in the Yemeni arena, thus presenting a great pioneering and distinguished journalistic experience in all its aspects.
