The Yemeni Journalists’ Union condemned extremist cleric Abdullah Ahmed Al-Adini’s incitement against female journalists on Al-Jumhuriya TV channel.

The union said it was following with great concern the incitement speech published by Al-Adini on his Facebook page against the broadcaster of our sister channel Al-Jumhuriya, Ahed Yassin, as well as the offensive denunciation and explicit incitement to hatred that it contained.

In a statement issued on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the union called on the relevant authorities to open an urgent investigation into this incident and take the necessary legal measures to end Al-Audaini’s systematic incitement against journalists and activists under religious cover, which leads to societal incitement against them.

The union stressed that this incitement represents a direct threat to women journalists and their right to carry out their work freely and safely, and reflects the serious deterioration of the media environment in Yemen, where journalists work under repressive conditions and increasing risks.

She highlighted that female journalists and television channel workers have been victims of repeated attacks in recent times, which the union strongly condemns and sees as a dangerous incitement that requires holding all those behind it to account and stopping targeted campaigns based on incitement and defamation.

The union held the relevant authorities responsible for any harm or future attacks against male and female journalists that may result from this speech.
