Japan provides new humanitarian aid package to Yemen worth $13.8 million

On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the Japanese government announced a new humanitarian aid package to Yemen amounting to US$13.8 million from Japan’s supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year.
The Japanese Embassy said, in a statement, that the aid program targets a number of vital humanitarian sectors, including nutrition and health, protection of internally displaced persons and refugees, response to natural disasters such as floods, improving access to water, reproductive health, prevention of gender-based violence, in addition to mine action, and the provision of protection and support to victims of armed conflict.
The statement explains that the implementation of these initiatives will be done in partnership with international organizations, including the World Food Program (WFP), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
He stressed that Japan continues to contribute to supporting infrastructure development in Yemen, as its efforts include improving the efficiency of the port of Aden, rehabilitating the city’s internal roads, in addition to supporting children’s access to quality education and providing vocational training programs for young people to enable them to integrate into the labor market.
