United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has described ongoing developments in eastern Yemen’s Hadhramaut governorate as a “dangerous escalation.”
Guterres indicated, in an interview with the Saudi channel Al Arabiya, that the United Nations is monitoring the situation with great concern.
He said the United Nations is calling for an immediate reversal of this trend, stressing that what is happening is a “complex regional problem” that requires intensive efforts to prevent its deterioration.
He added: “We will do everything possible to avoid this escalation and return things to a path that facilitates the peace process in Yemen,” believing that such escalation does not serve peace and does not achieve stability.
