Google combines Android and Apple
YNP:
Google has announced the launch of a new feature that allows Android phone users to share files directly with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices, without the need for external applications.
This feature is part of the “Quick Share” update and aims to facilitate the exchange of photos, videos and documents between the two most used systems in the world.
The move comes after years of restrictions on file sharing between Android and iOS, which required complex alternatives such as email or cloud storage apps.
With this new feature, it is possible to transfer files quickly and easily, securely and reliably.
How does it work?
The new feature makes Google’s “Quick Share” system compatible with Apple’s “AirDrop” functionality. To use it, the user needs to open the “Quick Share” app on an Android phone and select a nearby Apple device from the list of available devices.
On the other hand, the “Everyone for 10 minutes” option must be activated in the “AirDrop” settings, so that the device is discoverable for only 10 minutes, as a security measure.
After that, the files are sent directly without going through intermediary servers, thus ensuring confidentiality and not storing the data on any external server.
The importance of functionality for users
Sharing files between Android and iOS has always been a source of inconvenience for millions of users.
With this feature, the gap between the two systems decreases and moving between devices becomes easier than ever.
Additionally, large files can be shared quickly and without the need for external applications or cloud storage.
This step also reflects Google’s desire to improve compatibility between different systems, which increases users’ freedom to use their devices seamlessly.
Currently supported devices
The feature is currently only available for Google Pixel phones, but Google has confirmed that it will be expanded to include more Android devices in the coming days. This means that users of other phones will gradually benefit from compatibility between Android and iOS.
In conclusion, we can say that Google’s new file sharing functionality represents a big step towards facilitating interaction between different operating systems, so that users no longer need to look for alternative solutions to transfer images or documents, but can instead count on an official, safe and fast method directly from Android to Apple devices.
