Four reasons pushed Hamas to accept Trump’s plan

1- The Arab-Islamic weight which started from Doha to Washington, in particular the Saudi, Egyptian, Jordanian, Turkish and Qatari coordination.

On the one hand, this prompted Trump to change his plan regarding Gaza and put pressure on Netanyahu, and on the other hand, this Arab-Islamic weight created an umbrella of protection for the rational leaders of Hamas in the face of pressure from Iran and the statements of the international Muslim Brotherhood organization.

2- There was Palestinian consensus on this plan, which included (stopping the war, entering aid, preventing displacement, preventing annexation of the West Bank, and a Palestinian administration in Gaza), and it also included a reference to a path to a two-state solution.

Hamas armed itself with the Palestinian consensus to strengthen its position after the fragmentation of the resistance axis became evident.

3- Trump has pledged not to liquidate the movement’s leaders, and part of that commitment is reflected in the security guarantees he has given Qatar against external aggression.

Most likely, the movement will be rewarded for leaving power and weapons by leaving its overseas funds intact.

4- Hamas is betting that it will occur again in the future under the sponsorship of Turkey rather than Iran, and in a political rather than military form. Hamas’ gamble is right, because ending de facto authority in Gaza and unifying it with the West Bank represents Netanyahu’s worst nightmare, and he would prefer Hamas to remain in Gaza rather than the return of the Palestinian Authority.

Washington and Tel Aviv will try the next day to undermine the Arab project by supporting Ankara’s ambitions, and this explains why Erdogan sat next to Trump when he announced the plan and the intimate relationship between the two parties.
