Journalist Salah Al-Saqladi ruled out the ability of the Salem Bin Brik government to close any of the illegal ports that the government had ordered closed.
Al-Saqladi said in a post on his Facebook account: “They could manage to close three ports easily, but closing the Ras Al-Ara port in Lahj governorate is difficult, if not impossible. »
He confirmed that this port serves “Hawamir” which he described as “the father of horns”, explaining that these Hawamir are tribal, military and an established smuggling mafia, which needs a stronger force than them to uproot them.
On November 3, 2025, the head of the internationally recognized government, Salem Bin Brik, ordered the Minister of Transport and the governors of the governorates (Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Al-Mahra and Lahj) to close the ports of (Al-Shehr, Qena, Nishtun and Ras Al-Ara) in implementation of Resolution No. (11) of 2025 of the Presidential Council regarding the approval of the priorities of comprehensive economic reforms, as these are ports created in violation of applicable laws and regulations.
The directive highlights the need to implement without delay the immediate closure of the above-mentioned ports and to take the necessary legal measures against any party that refuses or obstructs the implementation.
He also stressed that it is necessary to submit urgent reports to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers on the progress of implementation within three days from the date of publication of the decision, continue daily monitoring until full implementation and fully adhere to the instructions received without any delay or laxity.
