Aden.. Four defendants charged with the assassination of Major General Jawas, including a military commander, sentenced to death

A trial court in Aden governorate in southern Yemen, specializing in terrorism cases, has handed down a judgment in the case of the assassination of a high-ranking military commander, assassinated on March 23, 2022 in a suicide attack.

This happened during the trial hearing in the case of the assassination of Major General Thabet Muthanna Jawas, Commander of the Al-Anad Axis in Lahj Governorate, Commander of the 131st Infantry Brigade, which was held by the Specialized Criminal Court in Aden, Monday, November 18, 2024.

The judgment ordered the execution of four defendants, namely: Amjad Khaled, former commander of the Public Transport Brigade of the Presidential Protection Brigades, Muhammad Ali Mohsen Abdullah Al-Azani, Rania Saeed Salam and Muhammad Ahmed Yahya Al-Maysari.

The text provided for punishing the accused, Abdul Karim Ali Mohsen Abd Rabbuh Al-Azani, with ten years in prison and forcing those found guilty to pay court costs amounting to five hundred thousand riyals.

Jawas was assassinated with his son and several of his companions by a car bomb that targeted his convoy in the Green City, north of Aden governorate.
