“A document”.. Aden.. The Ministry of the Interior sets a new condition for obtaining a passport

Aden Interior Minister Ibrahim Haidan ordered the Department of Immigration, Passports and Nationality to cut the passport only after obtaining the electronic chip card.

The circular addressed to the head of the Department of Immigration, Passports and Nationality emphasizes that “it is strictly prohibited to cut a passport for the first time, or to make changes to the passport, except after cutting the electronic chip card.”

The circular underlines the need for the Presidency of the Department to inform all its directorates of the content of the circular.

Civil registration has been divided between Sana’a and Aden, with an electronic card issued by Sana’a starting operation almost 20 years ago, while the Aden government began issuing a smart electronic card two years ago, which has become the approved card for official transactions in the areas it administers.
