Meteorology warns of widespread volcanic ash, cold weather in several governorates

The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects volcanic ash to continue to impact the country’s climate, which could be cold to very cold, over the next 24 hours.

The center said in its weather bulletin that the country’s atmosphere was affected by widespread volcanic ash originating from Ethiopia, which affected the western coasts and spread to large areas from the mountainous highlands to the southern and eastern coasts and eastern desert areas.

Volcanic ash is expected to continue to affect the country’s atmosphere over the next 24 hours.

The center warned citizens in affected areas against direct exposure to volcanic ash and advised them to wear masks when going outside, cover water and exposed crops, wash their faces and extremities if they come into contact with the ash, and stay indoors as much as possible with doors and windows tightly closed.

According to the weather forecast, cold to very cold weather is expected during the night and early morning in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Al-Bayda and Al-Dhalea Heights, Lahj, Abyan, Ibb, west of Al-Jawf and south of Ma’rib, where the minimum temperatures in general will be below normal and will be between 01 and 05 degrees Celsius.

While the weather can be cold in the highlands of Hadramawt, Shabwa, Taiz, Raymah, Al Mahwit and Hajjah.

The center warned citizens in the highlands of cold and extreme cold, especially the elderly, children, sick people and workers during the night and early morning.

He called on farmers to take appropriate measures to protect their crops and crops from damage, and for those coming to cold areas to take necessary precautions to avoid cold shock.
