On the evening of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Israeli gunboats and tanks continued to bombard the coast and waterways of the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, alongside further airstrikes on various areas of Gaza City and Khan Yunis, constituting a further violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Medical sources in hospitals in the Gaza Strip reported that 21 Palestinians, including 8 children, were killed and more than 50 others injured following the raids which targeted several areas.

The Nasser Medical Complex said a child was killed following a bomb attack targeting a residential apartment in the Al-Amal neighborhood, northwest of Khan Yunis, while three others, including a girl, were killed in a raid on a house in the Yarmouk area of central Gaza.

Civil Defense teams also announced the discovery of the bodies of four other martyrs under the rubble of a house of the Al-Banna family in the Al-Sabra neighborhood.

Rescue teams are facing great difficulties in finding missing people due to continued bombings and the flying of Israeli warplanes over the Gaza Strip.

On the Israeli side, Channel 12 quoted a senior official as saying the strikes in Gaza are aimed at ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire and not harming it, adding that Hamas should fear the possibility of a return to war.

The channel explained that US President Donald Trump’s advisers put pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid overreactions that could threaten the truce, by proposing to issue a tougher US ultimatum to Hamas.

Amid these developments, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the postponement of the handover of the body of an Israeli prisoner found in a tunnel in Khan Yunis, noting that Israeli violations are hampering search, excavation and recovery operations, warning that any further escalation would lead to further delays in the handover of the bodies.

Recent developments in the Gaza Strip indicate the fragility of the ceasefire, as repeated violations by Israel emerge as a major factor exacerbating the state of tension and hampering relief efforts and the search for missing people.

On the other hand, the international situation, between American pressure and condemnations from certain countries such as Turkey, shows the complexity of the political scene and the importance of the role of mediation to avoid an escalation.

The ability of the parties to show restraint and implement agreements, particularly regarding the exchange of prisoners and bodies, remains a decisive indicator of the possibility of a continuation of the truce or, on the contrary, the outbreak of a new wave of violence in the region.
