The commander of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti”, acknowledged the violations committed by his forces in the town of El Fasher, in the west of the country, pledging to open a thorough investigation and hold those involved accountable.

Hemedti’s statements follow accusations by human rights organizations and doctors’ unions against Rapid Support fighters, who accuse them of committing atrocities after taking control of the city on October 26, 2025, including massacres, torture and widespread looting.

Hemedti declared, in a televised speech broadcast on social networks, that he had observed “violations in El Fasher”, stressing that “no soldier or officer will escape his responsibilities if his involvement in a crime is proven”.

He added that military and judicial commissions of inquiry have already arrived in the city to open an investigation into the events.
