Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council in Yemen, General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, discussed many thorny issues related to the implementation of the provisions of the Riyadh agreement and the reasons for its obstruction.
Bin Brik confirmed in an interview with “Erm News” that the position of the Council delegation to suspend its participation in any committee related to the implementation of the Riyadh agreement is a correct position, calling on the coalition, and Saudi Arabia in particular, to assume all its responsibilities to identify obstruction and take necessary measures against it.

The Transitional Council delegation suspended its participation in all joint committees of the Riyadh agreement. How do you see this?
The logic is that our position would be similar to that of our delegation in Riyadh before. Despite the shortcomings of the Riyadh Agreement, which was signed under the supervision of a large country like Saudi Arabia, in partnership with the rest of the Arab coalition countries, and under the auspices of the UN envoy and the Quartet, the terms of the agreement were rejected and ignored by a senseless group, implemented by the forces of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islah party on the ground in the south, without stopping them or limiting their movements and actions in accordance with to what was agreed in the terms of the agreement. such as stopping the salaries and feeding of the armed forces. That is, fight the main enemy on the battle fronts, stop military support and stop treating the wounded who fall daily. Don’t you see that all this justifies the suspension of the work of our Council delegation?
While we are in the position of a proponent of calm and agreement, committed to not allowing any criticism to escape and putting an end to media feuds, military movements and attacks from one side, at a time when we see the second party moving its sleeper cells from the base and…ISISHe moves strange forces to enter from Ma’rib to Shabwa and implements programs aimed at dividing and isolating certain governorates. These are all negative positions, without taking a position on the ground to dissuade or limit them.
We are confident that the agreement will be implemented and we could have followed some actions until the end of the maximum three months to implement the agreement, and then we could determine a clear position on what is happening on the ground.
Legitimacy has gone too far and pays salaries to the not yet liberated governorates and the stagnant forces in Marib, while the salaries of the southern armed forces are stopped, to thwart and devour them. This question will not be accepted by any rational person, neither the Transitional Council, nor our people. Strange paradoxes, as if our patience were being tested.
How do you assess the work of the recently formed joint political committee in Riyadh?
Our delegation is the same one that went to sign the Riyadh Agreement, and it is the same in the Joint Political Committee, and the other party was supposed to have its delegation in the Joint Political Committee, the same delegation that negotiated and signed the agreement in order to implement the terms of the agreement under the supervision of the coalition, but it becomes clear that the original delegation rebelled and did not want to implement the terms of the agreement, which was embarrassing for Saudi Arabia. Indeed, some elements of the interim government are turning to forces hostile to the coalition countries, such as Turkey, to conclude agreements of which it is not clear what they are, and they intervene in the context of a trend of the Muslim Brotherhood and the strengthening of relations with Turkey, but no measures have been taken to dissuade them.
What are the possible scenarios if the Riyadh agreement fails?
Every incident has a timely conversation.
How to implement the clause for the merger of security and military forces, their disarmament and their withdrawal from Aden?
Your place is a secret. We cannot give in to those who want to massacre the Transitional Council and the southerners, at a time when weapons continue to flow with Al-Qaeda, ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood and the forces that seek to harm the south, and they are now on the outskirts of Abyan, and the committees are coming to ask us to surrender our weapons, when there is a chronological sequence of the agreement whose provisions are determined to create confidence. It is unreasonable for this to be done while the invading forces are still stationed in Shabwa, Abyan, Hadramaut and Al-Mahra, and have not been moved to confront the Houthis on the ground. The battle fronts, so we will not move an inch from where we are on the ground.
What are the main points of disagreement between you and the Hadi government in Riyadh?
As usual, the Muslim Brotherhood wants to devour others and be at the forefront of politics in terms of power, wealth and land. This is what we have not accepted and will never accept, unless we are completely destroyed.
What is the position of the Arab coalition, particularly Saudi Arabia, towards the parties obstructing the Riyadh agreement?
We have fulfilled all the obligations imposed on us. We come under Chapter Seven, and they can see our movements via satellite, and they can also see the arrogant actions of the second party.
It is assumed that after the Riyadh agreement, no residents will be displaced, but what happens is that the implementation of the terms of the agreement is interrupted. The Muslim Brotherhood authorities in Shabwa, Abyan, Hadramaut, Al-Mahra and Socotra are making radical changes to embarrass the leaders who were accepted for subsequent appointment under the terms of the Riyadh Agreement, and to modify unqualified elements and create confrontational elements, which means the failure of the coalition countries, and especially Saudi Arabia, in implementing their mission.
The brothers of the Arab coalition must take responsibility, hold the obstructionists accountable and put an end to their actions, because they are financed with ammunition, weapons and money from taxes and revenues of the southern governorates, and spent on the terrorist forces on the ground, because the actions of some elements of the government inside and outside the borders are considered provocative for us and the Arab coalition.
We say enough is enough, and the coalition countries must take responsibility, otherwise the problem will continue to worsen indefinitely, and I affirm that the people of the South will not accept a return to what was before 2015, and will not accept anything other than the restoration of the state and the independence of the South, and will only accept a modern state and not a gang state, and will not accept suspicious relations with the coalition countries, so that they are on their land and insult them in front of the media. The coalition is therefore supposed to assume its direct responsibility by demanding accountability from these deviant parties who live on contradictions, terrorism and warlords.
How do you assess the issue of the resignations of a certain number of members of the association? What is its impact on the association and the council?
Resignations or objections are a healthy phenomenon in properly functioning political entities, and we cannot be equal like the teeth of a comb. Anyone who wants to oppose the behavior of the leadership of the Transitional Council and its organs, let them do so. And whoever agrees with us and whoever seeks a homeland and does not seek material and power will continue to fight with us to the end. We do not offend anyone, and along this long path, those with weak consciences and those who pursue specific interests will fall.
In summary, these resignations have no impact on us, because it is better for us than their presence.
