Ahmed Ben Brik admits that the transition party is crumbling in corruption, in which legitimacy is drowned, and that the council is eating away from the inside
Yemen
Yamanat – Sanaa
Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik considered May 21, 1994 a pivotal date for the people of South Yemen. Stressing that this day announced the disengagement of the Republic of Yemen, following the practices carried out by the northern government, which he described as odious against the population of the south, including oppression and racism. Noting that this affair prompted the South, which carried and demanded the slogan of unity, to withdraw from this unity in all its historical tools.
a surprise
Ahmed Bin Brik, vice chairman of the Southern Transitional Council, said surprise struck southerners after discovering that the North was dealing with the South as if it were a valuable game. He explained that Southern wealth and property had become permissible, Southern armed forces and functional cadres were absent, and backward conditions and teachings that prevailed in the North were enforced. The decision to disengage was therefore made, which was very well received by the southerners, as he described it.
War
Ibn Brik emphasized in his interview with the Russian agency “Sputnik” that after the announcement of disengagement, the North found nothing other than the unjust war it launched against the South in 1994. He indicated that with the declaration of war, all cadres, political forces and others in the South could be liquidated. Revealing that during this period, all political forces that felt aggrieved by the idea of disengagement even adopted this approach, but that the circumstances were not conducive to this aspiration.
Disengage
Ibn Brik noted in the interview after his disappearance from the political scene for more than a year that the Transitional Council took up the torch of the idea of disengagement and worked to continue it, and that it obtained great support from the south in all regions of the country from one end to the other, and thus everyone rallied around the Transitional Council to lead the struggle for the restoration of the state and its independence, according to his description.
the goal
Ibn Brik confirmed in the interview he had with Ahmed Abdel Wahab that the objective of the southerners is the same and that they are united by the Transitional Council project. But he stressed that there are many factions of the movement led by different leaders. We hope that this project will last until the end, and that this generation will carry it on, and if necessary, the next. Stressing that the literature and documents of the Transitional Council, which represent the meeting point of different political forces and leaders, cannot be undone.
Mobility Components
He explained that after the 1994 war, various components of the movement were formed under various slogans, all of which converged towards the goal of disengagement, but most of them were aborted halfway due to the practices of the regime that prevailed at the time in the Republic of Yemen and its tools which did not want the south to secede, and that their components were often from the north and had money and administration and successfully thwarted the southern forces. Pointing this out afterwards. The creation of the Transitional Council came after dialogues and discussions, and everything that was agreed was recorded in the documents of the council, considering that everyone rallied around the council and the different components as a project carrying the cause of the south, noting that this encouraged the council to continue holding dialogue sessions even with the factions that did not adhere to it, given that the council does not belong to a specific person or parties, but rather to the people of the south in general.
Structuring
Ibn Brik said that the restructuring was mainly aimed at renewing the blood and working mechanism of the Transitional Council, although some saw it as a failure, an advance or something else, believing that the objective of restructuring the Council could not be to adapt to the number of people. Rather, it is about assessing the previous situation and the extent of its success in the political, empowerment and security aspects, and expanding the circle of work with participation, not confinement or establishing severe centralization through this restructuring.
Case hanger
Major General Ibn Brik indicated that the Transitional Council will carry the southern issue until it reaches the stage of self-determination, which will be governed by the ballot box during this period to choose the political situation and leaders. Explaining that what has happened and is happening around us is the desire for the Southern question to become a permanent anchor like the Palestinian question and take decades, believing that this issue is actively being dealt with by external forces that are eating away at the internal, and this is what is currently happening with the Transitional Council.
The biggest gain
He declared: The Transitional Council is weakened from the outside and from the inside, highlighting the factors of weakness that appeared during the previous period. Adding this, at the same time, the major problems that the Transitional Council has accomplished in recent years are not highlighted. He considered that the most important gain made by the Transitional Council was the possession of military forces that allowed it to defend the lands and capabilities of the south, in addition to the fact that it now possessed leaders in the fight against opposing forces within the structure of legitimate authority, not to mention issues related to external intervention.
Partnership and roleless bags
Ibn Brik considered the transitional partnership with legitimacy within the Presidential Council led by Rashad Al-Alimi a disaster. Believing that the biggest mistake made by the Council was excessive participation and obtaining 4 portfolios in government that had no role.
We are drowning in corruption
He said: We have drowned in the corruption in which legitimacy has been drowned in the past, but what is more important is that the cadres of the Transitional Council who sacrificed everything, positions, jobs, etc., in the name of the banner of the South, everyone wants the continuity of the Council and supports it by all means.
The opposition is stronger
Ibn Brik did not deny the legitimacy of the partnership, but he confirmed the partnership, even though he considered it a disaster. However, he found that if the transitional party had been in the trenches of opposition to authority and legitimacy, its popular, pioneering and military position would have remained stronger than it is today.
Bet
He continued: The enemies of the South aspire for the Transitional Council to make an ill-advised gamble, and thus return to the Riyadh agreement and participate in and end the Transitional Council.
He stressed that they are suffering and that revolutionary action is needed to bring the people together around the Transitional Council and its leaders to continue their struggle to achieve the goals of the people of the South.
Condition and frequency
Ibn Brik saw that the Houthis imposed the trusteeship system in the north by force and the world recognizes this force, even if it is not legitimate, but we in the south are under the banner of preserving our gains through the alliance and our position towards it so far is one of the issues that has made us hesitate a lot. We are under guardianship, but that does not mean that we are dying of hunger and thirst and that our people are neglected and that the Houthis are rising, and this meeting is a message for everyone.
Peace be upon you
He stressed that the transitional government supports the achievement of peace and harmony among the people of Yemen, the north and the south. But he stressed that he was not in favor of compromising the rights of the southern people at the expense of peace, because this issue was very clear, since the Houthis were being fought and stood with the coalition.
