The Israeli army reported that the International Committee of the Red Cross received, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, the remains of one of the four remaining hostages in Gaza, as part of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The army said in a statement: “According to information from the Red Cross, the coffin of a deceased hostage is in its custody and is on its way to Israeli army forces in the Gaza Strip. »
He explained in a statement that the coffin was transported from the Gaza Strip to the armed forces and the Shin Bet, and from there it will be returned to Israel and transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine affiliated with the Ministry of Health.
The office said that after completing the examination and identification procedures, the family of the deceased will be officially informed.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli military said that according to information provided by the Red Cross, its crews had received the remains and were on their way to a military force in the Gaza Strip.
Ignoring Tel Aviv’s violations of the ceasefire agreement, he continued: “Hamas must respect the agreement and make all necessary efforts to return the abducted dead.” »
The Al-Qassam and Al-Quds Brigades announced Thursday evening their intention to hand over the remains of an Israeli prisoner, after their discovery in the town of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.
After handing over the remains, since the entry into force of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement on October 10, the Palestinian factions have handed over 20 living Israeli prisoners and the remains of 27 others out of 28, according to their announcements.
However, Israel claimed that one of the remains it received did not belong to any of its prisoners and that the other remains were not new, but rather those of a prisoner whose remains had previously been found.
Israel conditions the start of negotiations to launch the second phase of the agreement on the receipt of the rest of the prisoners’ remains, while the Hamas movement has repeatedly confirmed that it will take time to extract them due to the massive destruction in Gaza.
On the other hand, 9,500 missing Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army, and their bodies are still under the rubble of the Israeli war of annihilation, according to the government media office in Gaza.
There are also more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners, including children and women, in Israeli prisons, suffering torture, starvation and medical neglect. Many of them were martyred, according to Palestinian and Israeli media and human rights reports.
The ceasefire agreement ended the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip which began on October 8, 2023 and left more than 69,000 Palestinian martyrs and more than 170,000 injured, mostly children and women, with reconstruction estimated by the United Nations at around $70 billion.
