The Central Bank clarifies the financial rights of its governor

The Central Bank of Aden commented in a statement on what is circulating regarding the financial rights of the bank governor.
The press release published on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 confirms that what is put forward by some according to which the Governor of the Bank, Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb, would receive an amount of 40,000 dollars per month is a false and unfounded allegation.
The statement emphasizes that the information promoted is based on old data dating back to before 2018, noting that the current governor was one of the most prominent critics of these practices and those who called for their correction at the time.
The bank confirmed that the salaries of the governor, his deputy and members of the board of directors have been fixed at these amounts since 2018.
He said the total amount the governor currently receives is the same as that paid to any civil servant of the same rank, an amount which does not reach 20% of what he received in his previous job in the commercial banking sector, and does not exceed one third of the salary of an executive director of a microfinance bank among the banks subject to the supervision of the Central Bank.
He stressed that all financial operations of the bank are subject to a corporate governance system and an independent audit committee, in addition to an annual audit carried out by an international company among the ten largest international auditing companies.
The bank called on everyone to be accurate and responsible in media coverage of issues related to a sovereign institution, and not to get caught up in what is promoted by suspicious websites or paid pens that serve personal and not national interests.
He warned against any attack on an essential sovereign institution which represents a fundamental pillar in the cohesion of state institutions and the continuity of their work, stressing that he reserves the legal right to take all legal measures he deems appropriate against those who promote these lies and misleading information.
