Major international shipping companies have expressed their willingness to return to Red Sea shipping lines as soon as appropriate security conditions are met.

Vincent Clerk, CEO of Danish shipping company Maersk, announced that the company will resume shipping on the Red Sea via the Suez Canal as soon as security conditions allow.

At a joint press conference with the head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, in Egypt, the registrar explained that Maersk intends to take progressive steps to resume shipping traffic in the East-West corridor through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea, in light of the progress made in Gaza and Bab al-Mandab.

He stressed that society views with optimism the progress made in the Gaza peace process, as it has a direct impact on strengthening freedom of navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the link between the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
