Media sources and activists on social media reported that authorities in Sanaa released artist Intisar Al-Hammadi on Saturday, October 25, 2025, after almost five years of detention.

Human rights activist Ahmed Naji Al Nabhani said he contacted lawyer Khaled Al Kamal, who informed him that he had met Al Hammadi’s mother at the prosecution while she was going through the procedures for her daughter’s release.

Al-Nabhani, through her Facebook page, demanded that health care be provided to artist Intisar Al-Hammadi, noting that after five years of imprisonment, she now needs medical care to overcome the health and psychological effects left by her long detention.

Authorities in Sanaa arrested Al-Hammadi on February 20, 2021, when she and her colleagues were on their way to a photo shoot.

On November 8, 2021, the Al-Amana West Court in Sana’a handed down a five-year prison sentence for charges described as “violating public morals” and “undermining good morals,” charges that Al-Hammadi and his lawyers have strongly denied.

Lawyers and rights and freedoms organizations said the decision was unfair because it was based on accusations that had no legal basis. They also confirmed that during his detention, Al-Hammadi was the victim of violations that they described as “retaliations”, in addition to the deterioration of his health and psychological state.
