Real Madrid recently terminated its contract during the Clásico matches, after 4 consecutive defeats against its traditional rival, Barcelona, to achieve victory with a score of (2-1), Sunday evening October 26, 2025, in the tenth round of La Liga, in the Merengue stronghold, the “Santiago Bernabéu”.
Real Madrid have failed to defeat Barcelona since German Hansi Flick took charge at the start of last season, before coach Xabi Alonso’s side, who has been in charge of Real Madrid since the start of the current season, managed to break the tie.
Real Madrid’s double was scored by Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham in the 22nd and 43rd minutes, noting that Mbappe missed a penalty in the 52nd minute. Fermin Lopez scored Barcelona’s only goal in the 38th minute, in the match which saw teammate Pedri sent off in the 90th + 10th minute.
With this victory, Real Madrid increased their score to 27 points at the top of the La Liga standings, while Barcelona’s score stood at 22 points in second place, with a gap of 5 points.
The match started at a fast pace and the first dangerous chance presented itself in the first minute via a powerful shot from Marcus Rashford, but Brazilian defender Eder Militao intervened in the last minute to turn the ball for a corner, preventing an early goal for Barcelona.
In the third minute, the referee awarded a penalty in favor of Real Madrid after contact between Lamine Yamal and Vinicius Junior inside the area, before returning to video technology and deciding to overturn the decision in the fifth minute, considering that the Barcelona player had played the ball first.
In the following minutes, Barcelona continued to try to impose their control on the ball, and this showed in possession, before Real Madrid announced themselves strongly with the first goal scored by Kylian Mbappe in the 11th minute, but video technology intervened again and ruled out the goal for offside.
Real Madrid did not back down and managed to score the first goal in the 22nd minute thanks to Kylian Mbappe, who took advantage of a perfect pass from Jude Bellingham, to go one-on-one and pass the ball past Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, announcing the home side’s lead.
The chances continued after the goal, as Real Madrid came close to adding the second through Valverde and Bellingham, then Howesen sent in a dangerous header which was blocked by Polish goalkeeper Szczesny in the 29th minute.
While Ferran Torres wasted the opportunity to equalize the score in the 33rd minute with a weak shot controlled by Thibaut Courtois, the Merengue goalkeeper.
In the 38th minute, Barcelona managed to come back to score thanks to Fermin López, who took advantage of a distinctive pass from Marcus Rashford inside the penalty area, to put the ball in the back of the net, equalizing for the Catalan team after exploiting an error from Turkish player Arda Guler, the Real Madrid player.
But Real Madrid quickly regained the advantage, after Jude Bellingham scored the second goal in the 43rd minute, after a run down the left side by Vinicius Junior, and he sent a cross that reached the Brazilian Militao, who directed the ball to the Englishman, who easily put it in the net, ending the first half with the royal team in the lead (2-1).
At the start of the second half, Barcelona tried to come back quickly thanks to Fermin Lopez, who threatened the Real Madrid goal in the 46th minute with a dangerous shot from Marcus Rashford’s pass, but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was there.
In the 48th minute, the refereeing debate resumed after Real Madrid players called for a penalty due to a handball on Eric Garcia inside the area during a joint attempt with Jude Bellingham. The referee returned to the video technology in the 49th minute before officially announcing a penalty for Real Madrid in the 50th minute.
Kylian Mbappe took the lead in the 52nd minute, but goalkeeper Szczesny excelled and blocked the ball brilliantly, preventing Real Madrid from widening the gap and keeping Barcelona in the spirit of the match.
The Catalan response came quickly through Fermin López a minute later with a dangerous counter-attack which Courtois blocked, before his attempts continued in the 57th minute with a cross which he failed to convert into a goal.
Despite Barcelona’s attack, Real Madrid almost punished them without the intervention of Frenkie de Jong in the 58th minute, who saved a dangerous situation in the area, with a shot after a defensive error by Alejandro Balde.
In the 62nd minute, Aurélien Chouamini intervened forcefully to stop Eric Garcia’s attempt, before the match saw a decisive moment in the 68th minute, when a third Real Madrid goal, scored by Jude Bellingham, was ruled out due to Brahim Díaz’s offside at the start of the attack.
On the other hand, Barça defender Pau Cobarci missed the opportunity to equalize the score with a header in the 70th minute.
Then, the 72nd minute witnessed a clear moment of tension after Xabi Alonso, the Real Madrid coach, decided to withdraw Vinicius Junior and play Rodrigo Goes instead. Vinicius stormed out angrily straight to the dressing room during his substitution, in a shot that attracted attention and showed clear tension in the Real Madrid ranks.
Mbappé almost snatched the third goal, with a missile shot that passed the left post in the 88th minute.
Koundé wasted Barcelona’s most dangerous chance of the second half to equalize in the 89th minute, when he received a cross from Yamal and a shot, but it reached the arms of Courtois.
Pedri interfered with Tchouamini’s foot as he tried to catch the ball, in stoppage time, and received the second yellow card and subsequent expulsion, and the atmosphere of the Clásico heated up with arguments between the players and staff of both teams outside the lines, after which the referee blew the whistle, announcing the victory of the Royal team.
