Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has said he disagrees with England’s Wayne Rooney, his former Manchester United football teammate, over the comparison between him and Argentine star Lionel Messi.

Wayne Rooney, who played alongside Ronaldo, chose his great rival Messi when asked to identify “the best in history”, which the Portuguese star did not appreciate.

In a trailer for Ronaldo’s anticipated interview with journalist Piers Morgan, he said: “Wayne Rooney said he doesn’t hate you, but he still thinks Messi is better than you.”

Ronaldo replied: “No problem, but I don’t agree with him and I don’t want to be humble.”

The full interview is set to air on Piers Morgan Uncensored on November 4, but it’s clear that Ronaldo doesn’t share his former colleague’s opinion, as Rooney previously justified his choice on The Overlap by saying: “I understand that some people prefer Messi and others prefer Ronaldo. They are both incredible, and perhaps the best in the history of the game.”

But when we ask him directly: “Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?” He immediately replied: “Lionel Messi”?

He added: “For me, Messi has an extra artistic touch, that creativity that I like in a player and that’s why I chose him.”
