The Ministry of Interior in Sanaa has given a directive to wedding halls and marriage halls not to rent them after ten in the evening.
The circular aims to prevent brides and grooms from holding parties in wedding halls after ten in the evening, a custom associated with weddings for many decades, as a sign of security concerns.
This circular is consistent with a previous circular prohibiting the consumption of khat by citizens on public roads after 1 p.m. and imposing sanctions on violators.
