He is one of the most prominent news correspondents who have reported the suffering of Yemenis on the screens of Arab news channels and via satellite in recent years. He played a leading role in covering the events of the Arab Spring and the peaceful popular revolution in Yemen in 2011 AD. He is also an elegant writer and poet, overwhelmed by noble human emotions and feelings, and enjoying a distinguished presence in journalistic, political, cultural and literary circles.

His fellow journalist Ahmed Al-Shalfi, who works as editor-in-chief of Yemeni affairs for the Al Jazeera channel (1). Previously, he worked as a field correspondent for the same channel and presented hundreds of television reports and humanitarian stories, and participated in the coverage of a number of important events and wars in the region. He has presented and prepared long documentary films about Yemen, and he is always brilliant in his professional performance and distinguished by his journalistic and literary experience, with all its details, stages and continuous workstations.

Our distinguished colleague Ahmed Al-Shalfi studied part of primary school in his village, completed his preparatory and secondary studies in the city of Taiz and obtained a teaching diploma from the Institute of Teachers 96 – 97 (2) (3)

He began his career as a writer and poet, publishing in a number of local newspapers, including the Al-Jumhuriya newspaper and its cultural supplement, and became famous as a poet at Taiz city poetry festivals. During this period, between the years 1997 and 2000, he worked as a relations and media manager in the industrial department of the Hayel Saeed Anam business group, then he left Taiz for the capital, Sanaa, where after his move, he worked as editor-in-chief of the Al-Eqtisadiah magazine at the Yemeni Saba news agency in 2001, and then as supervisor of the cultural page of the official Al-Thawra newspaper.

The stage of his television work on the Yemeni satellite channel consisted of presenting a number of intellectual and cultural programs and conducting interviews with a number of Arab artists and thinkers. Then he presented the television program (Forum de la Culture), very well known at the time.

In 2004, Al Jazeera chose him from dozens of media professionals to work as a correspondent in Sanaa. During his work as a correspondent, he faced harassment from authorities, including listening to a personal call he had with his wife and then leaking it. This was in 2006 (4), and his personal passport was also confiscated in 2012 (5), but all this did not weaken his determination and will to advance in his field of journalistic work, while continuing to exercise his professional duty. Al Jazeera correspondent in Yemen for ten years, from June 2004 to January 2014. He then moved to Al Jazeera’s main headquarters in Doha, where he was appointed editor in charge of the channel’s Yemeni affairs.

His colleague Al-Shalfi obtained a diploma in comprehensive television journalism, in addition to a number of training courses in the journalistic and media field between (2001 and 2012) in the areas of journalistic editing, as well as in investigative journalism and television reporting, a course in information presentation and professional security in covering conflict and war zones, training of trainers and other courses related to journalistic work.

During his long journalistic experience, his colleague Ahmed Al-Shalfi carried out several major journalistic and media tasks and works and produced numerous reports and journalistic documents related to Yemeni events. We highlight the most important of these works as follows:

*Coverage of the Yemeni revolution, February 2011

* Covers the Houthi and Al-Qaeda wars in Yemen since 2004.

* Covering Southern Movement events since 2007.

* Field correspondent for the war in Somalia 2006-2007

* Field correspondent in Eritrea and Sudan in 2005 on conflict negotiations between Sudanese factions

* Field Delegate – Cairo Rabaa Events 2103 AD

* Sent to the field – Yemeni consultations, Geneva 2016

* Sent to the field – Kuwait regarding the Yemeni consultations 2016 AD

* Field delegate – Jordan Arab Summit 2017.

He also prepared a number of documentaries for the Al Jazeera network, the most important of which were:
