UN-Omani high-level meeting in Muscat to discuss situation in Yemen

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday, December 15, 2025, discussed with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the general situation in Yemen, including the conditions of United Nations employees and those working in diplomatic missions and non-governmental organizations, who are still arbitrarily detained by the Houthis.

Guterres arrived in Muscat, as part of his visit to the region, to discuss a number of issues.

The statement published by the website of the UN envoy to Yemen did not refer to other details related to the situation in eastern Yemen, although a UN spokesperson previously indicated that Guterres’ visit would discuss the situation in those areas.
